Lower Back, Knees and Movement Difficulties

Even with similar lower back or knee discomfort, potentially contributing factors such as movement habits, joint mobility, muscle tension, everyday activities and previous injuries vary from person to person. We assess your condition beyond just the lower back and knees.

Are any of these concerns affecting you?

  • Your lower back bothers you when standing up
  • Your knees bother you when walking
  • It is difficult to move your lower back after sitting for a long time
  • Your knees bother you when going up or down stairs
  • You have developed sudden lower back pain

How we assess your body

We assess everyday movements and your physical condition through the following points, rather than focusing only on your lower back and knees.

  • Standing posture, walking and standing-up movements: We identify which movements cause you to notice strain in your lower back or knees.
  • Movement of the lower back, hips and knees: We consider the relationship with other joints.
  • Muscle tension in the buttocks and thighs, and how you use your feet: These help us consider strain on the lower back and knees.
  • Everyday movements, previous injuries, numbness and weakness: We assess the relationship with daily life and whether medical care should come first.

About Treatments

Acupuncture and moxibustion:We adjust the intensity and treatment method while checking skin and muscle responses to acupuncture.

Manual therapy:When needed, we use hands-on muscle techniques, check joint movement and incorporate stretching.

Combined care as needed:Including for sudden lower back pain, we choose the methods needed according to your condition, preferences and responses during the session.

We also check movement and your body's responses after care, and revise the approach when needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you use acupuncture for sudden lower back pain?

We do not choose an approach simply because the symptoms are called acute lower back pain. We assess your condition, preferences and responses during the session, with acupuncture and moxibustion at the core and manual therapy as needed. We do not always use both.

Can I visit while also receiving orthopedic care?

Yes. We ask about your medical visits and current condition. If a diagnosis or tests are needed, assessment at a medical institution takes priority.
