Acupuncture and manual therapy:their respective roles.

Acupuncture and moxibustion are central to our care. We combine them with manual therapy according to your condition, preferences and responses during the session.

Care at Gen Shinkyu Seikotsuin while checking the patient's physical condition

What we check during acupuncture and moxibustion

We adjust the intensity and method while checking skin and muscle responses to acupuncture and how you feel.

What manual therapy involves

Depending on your condition, manual therapy may include hands-on muscle techniques, joint movement checks and stretching.

Manual therapy is more than a substitute when acupuncture or moxibustion cannot be used.

How We Choose and Combine Methods

Acupuncture and moxibustion work with the body differently from manual therapy. We consider whether to use one or combine them while checking your condition, preferences and responses during the session.

When we do not use acupuncture or change methods during a session

We generally use acupuncture from the first visit, but will not insist on it if you are very afraid of needles, do not want it, or if we consider it unsuitable for your condition.

During the session, we continue checking skin and muscle responses and how you feel, stopping acupuncture or changing methods as needed.

Exercise and Self-Care

When appropriate, we suggest manageable everyday exercises and self-care suited to your condition and daily life.

Care Precautions and More About Our Approach

We use single-use acupuncture needles. Our manual therapy does not involve forceful joint cracking. Please read the safety information for possible adverse reactions and situations in which medical care should come first.
